Less Waste powder concentrates - FAQ
No more disposable bottles! The Dresdner Essenz powder concentrates are innovative refill packs for shower, shampoo and hand soap. We answer all questions about production and use here.

Do you use hot or cold water for mixing?
We recommend using hot water with a minimum temperature of 40°C to mix the powder so that it dissolves as quickly as possible. The product could clump if lukewarm or cold water is used.
Does the water hardness affect the quality of the product?
The concentrates can be used with all water hardnesses. However, caution is advised in countries with poor water quality. If you cannot drink the water from the tap, please do not use it to mix your care product. Use mineral water or boiled water instead.
How much shower gel, shampoo or hand soap does one concentrate sachet make?
A 40g shower gel, shampoo or hand soap concentrate is mixed with 160ml water to make a 200ml liquid product, which you use and consume as usual. Please keep to the mixing ratio, otherwise the product will have too thin a consistency.
What should I do if the colour and/or consistency of the mixed concentrate changes?
The mixed Less Waste concentrates are sensitive to light and temperature. If the mixed product is exposed directly to light, it may become yellowish over time. However, the product can still be used. The ideal room temperature for the products is between 22 - 25 °C. If the finished product becomes too viscous or has white flakes, this may be due to the room temperature being too low. The product will return to its original consistency if you place it on a radiator for a short time or store it in a warmer environment. If white streaks are still visible, you can bring them back into solution by briefly shaking the mixture.

Why is the designated bottle not completely full after mixing the concentrate?
An important part of the mixing process is shaking the bottle after the water has been added. You need a certain amount of space for this and the space is absolutely essential to ensure that everything works smoothly. If you use your own bottle, it should have a capacity of 250ml.
Can I use my own bottles for the concentrates?
With Less Waste products, avoiding packaging waste is important to us. Of course, you can also use your own bottles for our concentrates. The only important thing is that the container is clean. Do not use a food bottle or a bottle that could be confused with food. We recommend a bottle with a capacity of 250 ml, as you will need some space at the top to shake the bottle.
How can I reuse the bottle?
After a concentrate has been used up, the bottle and lid must be thoroughly rinsed out with hot water. They are then ready for reuse.
How long do the Less Waste concentrates last?
The concentrates should be used within 3 months of mixing. Please keep the packaging of the powder concentrate until you have used up the mixed product. If there is something wrong with the product, we as the manufacturer can carry out a quality check using the batch number. For a better overview of the shelf life, we also recommend that you note the date of mixing on the packaging.

Why are the Less Waste bottles made of plastic?
Choosing the packaging for the Less Waste bottles was not easy for us. Initially, we favoured glass bottles. Unfortunately, glass always has the disadvantage that it is not shatterproof. This creates a major source of danger from shards in the bathroom or shower. In addition, the production of glass also requires a lot of energy and is therefore not 100% resource-friendly. That's why we opted for a bottle made from rPET (recycled PET). This means that no new plastic is produced, only plastic from old products is recycled. For example, our Less Waste bottle is made from recycled water or cosmetics bottles. Recycling is a very valuable and forward-looking step towards reducing waste. Unfortunately, the use of rPET is initially limited to the bottles and not the caps. The technical possibilities for this are not yet available, but we are constantly working on optimising our packaging in line with the latest research findings.
Why are the Less Waste concentrates packaged in plastic film?
Our top priority as a manufacturer is the safety and quality of the product. Packaging still has an important protective function for the cosmetic product, which we test in advance over a longer period of time. As much as we would like to use paper packaging, unfortunately it has not yet provided sufficient shelf life for the product. We have therefore opted for a thin plastic film that does not have an aluminium composite. This mono-material can therefore be more easily returned to the recycling process and can also be recycled in the future.
Are Less Waste concentrates certified natural cosmetics?
Less Waste products are not certified natural cosmetics. However, they are developed according to the strict criteria of our Dresdner Essenz raw materials philosophy and are therefore based primarily on natural or near-natural ingredients.
Are Less Waste concentrates vegan?
Yes, all products in the Less Waste range contain no animal-based raw materials and are therefore vegan.
Do Less Waste concentrates contain microplastics?
All Dresdner Essenz products do not contain microplastics in their formulations. This also applies to the Less Waste concentrates.
