Children's skin is more permeable
The skin is our body’s largest organ and when it comes to our little ones, the proportion of skin to their body weight is much greater. Small children therefore absorb a large number of substances through their skin so it is important to pay close attention to what comes into contact with their skin.
In addition to sensory perception, our skin can do much more: it regulates our body temperature, protects us against intruders from the surrounding environment like germs and pathogens while also playing a key role in our metabolism. So providing the skin with loving care is all the more important from the very beginning.
At DRESDNER ESSENZ, we use mild sugar and coconut surfactants as well as precious care ingredients such as wheat protein, sesame oil or sunflower oil for our DIRTY BIRDIE children's baths and shower products.

What children’s skin needs
Children’s skin is even thinner than adult skin. Their sweat and sebum glands are not yet fully developed so that they only have a thin layer of protective hydrolipid film, which is why children’s skin often gets dry. The protective function first has to develop, which is why children’s skin is often considered to be sensitive and also requires special care when it comes to UV protection.

We recommend using care products especially developed for children that cater to the needs of their sensitive skin and not using products for adults, which are often heavily perfumed.
For babies, body care is relatively “simple” as they tend to enjoy the regular care ritual. For preschool and school children, this may be completely different. Regular showering or washing hair can be a struggle for some parents. A few fun products with a colorful design and fragrances kids love may help in many cases.
