Dresdner Essenz Naturell, Need You! und DRECKSPATZ are certified Natural Cosmetics.
What a lot of consumers don’t know: To date, the term natural cosmetics has not been legally defined or protected. Though the Federal Ministry for Health and the European Council are making efforts to define natural cosmetics, they have not yet succeeded in doing so. If one consults Wikipedia, the largest Online encyclopedia, it provides the following description of natural cosmetics: “Natural cosmetics refer to cosmetics made at least in accordance with the demand for cosmetics that are more compatible with people and the environment than conventional cosmetics as well as with ‘more natural’ raw ingredients.” Natural cosmetics therefore follow a holistic principle. This includes the origin and selection of the raw ingredients that are used, their low-impact processing, packaging for the finished product as well as the relationships between all persons involved in this process and the natural world.
NaTrue Certification
The fact that the term natural cosmetics is so vague doesn’t just confuse consumers. As manufacturers, we also aren’t satisfied with the situation. As a result, NaTrue (The International Natural and Organic Cosmetics Association) has the task of protecting and promoting the term natural cosmetics around the world. NaTrue is an international, not-for-profit association for natural and organic cosmetics; the label was created in 2008 and is recognized internationally.
The NaTrue label refers to natural cosmetics, which comply with the strict criteria of the association. On the basis of a complicated, reliable certification process, the criteria are tested by independent bodies.
The NaTrue criteria go beyond what the law requires of natural cosmetics and allow the following groups of ingredients:
Dresdner Essenz Natural Cosmetics are vegan
The product lines NATURELL, NEED YOU! and DIRTY BIRDIE are vegan so they don’t contain any animal-based raw materials.
Dresdner Essenz cares deeply about the protection and welfare of animals. That is why we support the EU legislation banning animal testing for cosmetics and are committed to opposing animal testing. We regularly donate to the project "Stop Animal Testing“ of the German Animal Welfare Association. Among other things, the project campaigns for research and development methods and legal regulations that do not involve animal testing.
Sustainable Packaging
It is very important to us to improve our packaging in terms of its environmental compatibility. We are not yet perfect, but we have already had some successes.
Substances that are obtained from nature and to which no modifications are made.
Natural
Substances that are extracted from nature but subsequently modified.
Near-Natural
It defines exact limits for merely near natural ingredients to ensure that they are as natural as possible. The criteria do not only apply to the use of preservatives, emulsifiers or dyes, but also define the minimum requirements for production and processing of the raw ingredients used in cosmetics. This means that the manufacturer intentionally refrains from organic-synthetic as well as synthetic dyes, microplastics, silicones, paraffins and other petroleum products.
Natural raw ingredients like plant-based oils, fats and waxes, herbal extracts, blossom water and essential oils may be used on the other hand. Compliance with the criteria is guaranteed by constant controls and demonstrated by the award of a test mark. Only those who fulfill all requirements may use the NaTrue seal on their packaging. All our NATURELL, NEED YOU! and DIRTY BIRDIE products are certified by NaTrue.
Substances from nature are imitated in the laboratory. Only certain nature-identical substances are allowed and they are subject to strict quality criteria.
