The fast growing eucalyptus trees, most commonly found in Indonesia and Australia, can reach heights of up to 60 meters. While the trees are also valued for their wood in their home countries, over here, it is the tree’s oil that is in demand. The essential oil is obtained from the leaves and twigs by means of steam distillation. As an ingredient in candy or an inhalant, eucalyptus oils are effective against coughing and hoarseness. Externally applied they are also recommended for relieving rheumatism and muscle pain.
