Stone Pine
The stone pine (Pinus cembra), also called Swiss stone pine, is a coniferous tree of the alpine regions of Europe. The striking and almost majestic appearance of the stone pine is complemented by an enormous adaptability and robustness that enables it to thrive at extreme altitudes. The seeds are misleadingly called stone pine nuts, but they are actually cones that are egg-shaped and up to 9 centimetres long.
Swiss stone pine wood for a restful sleep
The wood of the Swiss stone pine is very resistant and yet easy to work with. For centuries, Swiss stone pine has been used for beds, children's beds and other pieces of furniture, especially for bedroom furniture. This is due to the special scent that the wood exudes. The characteristic scent is said to have a calming effect and thus also have a positive effect on the quality of sleep and general well-being.

Swiss stone pine essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the needles, twigs and wood of the Swiss stone pine. The uniquely fresh, woody to resinous scent is often used for calming and relaxation, as well as a natural sleep aid. In addition, Swiss stone pine essential oil has a positive effect on breathing, as it helps to open the airways and make breathing easier. Therefore, it is a wonderful natural helper for colds.
