Do you find it easy to drift off into a deep, dreamy sleep when
the smells of vanilla, chocolate, lemon, rose, lavender or other
scents are in the air?
Essential oils are responsible for these fragrances. These oils
are found in differing concentrations in various plant parts
– in the flowers, the roots, the leaves, the fruit or
the bark or peel. They have been used for millennia for medicinal,
culinary, cosmetic and religious purposes. In days of yore,
the alchemists thought that essential oils were the 'souls of
plants', which contained the vitality of those plants
in concentrated form.
Aside from the possibility of direct oral ingestion, essential
oils can enter the body via the nose and lungs and via the skin.
What is particular about ingestion via the nose is that the
nose does not only smell the scent, it also passes the scent
information directly to a special part of the brain known as
the limbic system. The limbic system is where our sensory perceptions
are based – this is where likes and aversions, emotions,
memories, motivation, sympathy and antipathy are all formed.
The limbic system also controls the distribution of endorphins
– the body’s own morphine supply. Even though we
are often not aware of the fact, smells actually have a decisive
influence on our physical and mental well-being.
Alongside medicinal herbal extracts, essential oils are the
primary active ingredients in Li-iL products. The selection
and combination of these ingredients takes place on the basis
of balneological, aromatherapeutic and phytotherapeutic considerations.
Our bodycare products contain only selected natural active ingredients
and only the best starting materials. We always prefer to use
plant-based ingredients. We reject animal-based ingredients
and mineral oils as a matter of principle, and the same applies
to animal testing.
The use of test reports, retention samples, batch systems and
regular testing using gas chromatography guarantee the purity
and the consistent top quality of our products.. |
